Craft your perfect IES light, down to every detail
The newest addition to the Shaders Plus & Gobos Plus family...
IES Plus
Procedural IES Lights for Blender
Available in the "Plus Bundle" via Shaders Plus or Gobos Plus
What does it do?
IES Plus brings a fully procedural approach to IES lighting and general lighting workflows.Shape, blend, and perfect your lighting directly within Blender's shader editor – no external IES profiles needed.
Modular Control
IES Plus offers a unique approach to IES lighting workflows!By utilizing a modular node-based workflow, you have virtually unlimited control over how your lights turn out!
Modular Control
Your lighting, your way.
IES Plus is composed of modular components, letting you construct exactly the lighting behavior you need.Start with the base IES Modules, then enhance them with Color Temp Modules, Distance Falloffs, and detailed Caustics Effects.Like LEGO, but for Lighting!
Advanced Modules
The Advanced Modules are almost entirely self-contained with every relevant feature. They still rely on Utility Nodes for certain features, but they're very powerful on their own!
Base Modules
The blue colored modules are the Base Modules, which are strictly the specific shapes they represent. These are handy for simple, clean, and intuitive workflows, and for people who may not need all the extra bells and whistles that come in the Advanced Module.
Color Temperature
Take complete control of your light's color characteristics:+ Utilize realistic color temperature presets+ Apply multiple color temperatures within a single light+ Create distance-based color temperature transitions
Color Temperature
Hot? Cold? ...Why not both!
IES Plus comes with physically accurate color temperature outputs!
Color Temp Controller
We've also included various temperature presets for you to play with!Simply hover your mouse over the preset values > CTRL + C > hover over "Temperature" > CTRL + V
.
We also wanted this to be intuitive to work with, so we changed the values decimal from the Thousands, to the Tens. The values after the first 2 are hardly necessary anyway.
If you wanted to have a temperature of 3,500 K, you would simply input 35.
(if you need specific decimal values, say 3,519 K, you can still type 35.19)
Color Temperature Workflow
There are several ways you can change the color temperature of the light; on a Module level, or an entire light level. The "Advanced" Module (formerly "all-in-one") comes with certain utilities built in, such as color temperature controls!
This lets you control each shapes color temp independently from the rest.If you wanted all of your Advanced modules to share the same color temperature, then you would plug in the Color Temp Controller utility module as shown above.
Advanced Module
Showing how the "Advanced" Module (formerly "all-in-one") can be used to control independent module color temperatures.*Note, the Color Temp Controller node cannot be used inbetween the nodes, only at the end of the chain; Advanced Modules are the only modules currently capable of mutli-temperature IES lights.
Temp Shift by Distance
With the Color Temp Controller node, comes a setting called "Temp Shift by Distance".
This allows you to have a gradient of color based on the kelvin scale. This is purely for fun & stylistic reasons, and does not run on real world values.
Utility Nodes
Take your lighting control even further with specialized utility modules:+ Link multiple lights with external mapping controls+ Create complex falloff behaviors with distance tools+ Synchronize groups of lights with a single control
Utility Nodes
Putting the IES in UtilitIES
To make IES Plus as comprehensive as it is, we've included procedural "Utility Nodes" in this pack as well!
You can think of them as like object modifiers, but specifically for the procedural IES modules.
External Mapping Node
In this example we can see how the External Mapping node is being used to override the built in mapping settings, so that we can introduce some more features...
In this example, mirroring the IES shapes!
Master Falloff Distance Clamper
whew, that's a mouthful
The Master Falloff Distance Clamper, is intended to clamp the maximum falloff distance of the lights rays. This is useful for when you want your light's influence to only stay constrained to a specific radius.
Temp Shift by Distance
Referenced in the Color Temperature Section
With the Color Temp Controller node, comes a setting called "Temp Shift by Distance".
This allows you to have a gradient of color based on the kelvin scale. This is purely for fun & stylistic reasons, and does not run on real world values.
36 Presets
And counting!
IES Plus comes loaded with versatile presets!
They're not just static profiles - think of them as starting points for your perfect lighting setup.Drag and drop the look you want and start customizing. No more digging through unnamed IES files in your explorer - everything you need is right in Blender's shader editor.
IES Plus is currently up to date! :)
